While English speaking players can be found on kurnik, the vast majority of Hex players are Polish. Therefore it is a good idea to know a few standard phrases. kurnik vernacular is full of standard phrases and abbreviations, making it possible to convey very exactly some common in-game messages.
- cze, czesc, siema
- hi
- nara, narka
- see you
- tak
- yes
- nie
- no
Observe that no in Polish means "yes". This may sometimes lead to misunderstandings.

- thank you
- grasz, gramy, zagrasz
- an invitation to a game
- zm, zmiana, zamiana
- switch [colors]
- spoko, jasne
- ok
- gr, gratki, gratulacje
- congratulations (to a winning opponent)
- nie mowie po polsku
- I don't speak Polish
- ost, ostatni(a)
- last [game]
