Template IV1-c is a 4th row edge template with one stone. It uses some space on the 5th row. The shaded hex is not part of the template and can be occupied by Blue.

Defending the template
Red has two main threats:
and
using the ziggurat.
For trying to block the connection Blue has to play on the overlap:
First attempt:
Red 2 threatens to connect to the bottom on the left side and forces a Blue move like 3. Likewise Red 4 forces 5 or similar moves. In the end 6 is safely connected via 2 or 4.
Second attempt:
Now Red is connected by Tom's move.
