Talk:Ladder puzzle 1/Solution
From HexWiki
what about f6 directly as an outpost? If it doesn't work, i'd like to know why... --Gregorio 17:23, 29 November 2007 (CET)
- I've answered it in the article, since a good solution should also explain why the failing moves don't work. --Roland Illig 23:29, 29 November 2007 (CET)
- I still don't get it ;) If Blue plays 2 in e6, as in your "Wrong solution", Red can start the ladder at c7 directly, long before Blue 8 :) My point is: h4 is not needed... --Gregorio 16:25, 2 December 2007 (CET)
- Next try: Blue answers at e7. If you have some variants, just add them in the article. --Roland Illig 19:37, 2 December 2007 (CET)
- I think 1.f6 2.e7 is not enough for Blue to win. What can be answered to 3.g6? Double threaten in c7 and f4. --Zeycus 11:13, 15 February 2009 (CET)
- You're right. I've changed the title to "Alternative Solution", because I don't see anything that Blue could do. --Roland Illig 15:01, 16 February 2009 (CET)
- Anyway I agree that the solution 1.e5, with the double ladder, is more valuable than 1.f6. Maybe the problem should be modified, adding a blue stone in f4. Like that, I don't think f6 would work. --Zeycus 21:13, 16 February 2009 (CET)
